Jabuticaba is a rare, woody, perennial tree, about 6m high and about 10-30 cm in diameter. The tree has many branches and tops pointing upwards. Small white flowers, growing on the stem. The fruit is about the size of a plum, growing on the trunk and branches. The fruit is green at first, then turns pink, and when ripe, it turns purple. The fruit has a grape taste, a lot of juice and can be eaten immediately when picked, or made into jam or fruit wine. Dried fruit can be used to treat asthma and diarrhea.
